The Last Of Us Series - Would It Be Interesting?

The release of The Last Of Us series has been announced, it is coming to HBO, but the release date however, has been kept confidential.
The Last Of Us series is going to be handled by Neil Druckmann who happens to be the creative director for Naughty Dog, Chernobyl creator, Craig Mazin is also playing a part in the series' production.
The Series is most likely going to cover events of the first Last Of Us game, although it may also include events from the Last Of Us 2 game coming out in May.
Although a solid character list has not been released, Neil Druckmann has confirmed the presence of Ellie, Riley, Tess, Marlene and Maria in a tweet that he posted on March 8th.
We expect Joel and Ellie to return as the protagonists, unless the director(s) and producer(s) are trying to avoid repetition of the storyline of the original Last Of Us game.
It would be nice if the movie centered on another character that although played an important role in the game, did not play as an important role as Ellie and Joel.
This would broaden our perspectives and allow us to see more of just what would happen in a post-apocalyptic time, full of "zombies".
We hope that the series will not end up a huge flop, and hope that it will encourage other game companies to portray their games as movies.
The original Last Of Us Movie that was supposed to be released has now been scrapped due to the production of this television show.
Craig Mazin, spoke at length on why the game couldn't be portrayed as a single movie but needed to be a television series, he said,

"My feeling was 'you can't make a movie out of this, it has to be a show. It needs length'. It's about the development of a relationship over a long journey, so it has to be a television show - and that's that, that's the way I see it. Happily, Neil agreed and HBO was delighted. So, here we are."This statement that he made is an assurance that the movie has been totally scrapped for the production of the series.
